Jennifer Rausch, Principal
Jennifer Rausch’s career in education began in 2006 as a kindergarten teacher. Over the years, she has served the children and families of Columbus, Ohio as a tutor, teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal. Her tenure with ACCEL Schools began in 2007 as a classroom teacher at Columbus Preparatory Academy. In 2013, she was named the school’s Teacher of the Year. Rausch earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education from the University of Dayton. She was on the team of educators who founded South Columbus Preparatory Academy, Southfield and is excited about the school’s future. An engaged leader, Rausch is committed to partnering with families, teachers, and the community to promote students’ wellbeing and encourage lifelong learning.
Jarod Hawk, Superintendent
Mr. Jarod Hawk joined ACCEL Schools in 2019 with over 11 years of experience as a K-8 educator and school leader in Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas. Prior to joining ACCEL Schools, he worked for IDEA Public Schools where he became Founding Principal of a Health Professions school after completing a two-year Principal Residency program working alongside top-performing principals in the network. Mr. Hawk holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Childhood Education from Kent State University as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University. Additionally, he is currently pursuing his Superintendent License with Ashland University.

South Columbus Preparatory Academy – Southfield is a community that works together to achieve high expectations in academics. Each student is a key component in our community and is given the tools to progress and succeed. Our administration and staff are here to support each and every child’s development. Supporting, their abilities to master core subjects and strengthen their social and emotional skills, by using differentiation to fit student needs. We strive to nurture our student’s strengths and help them grow in all aspects, by setting small goals and working towards those goals together as a team.
Southfield is dedicated to providing a learning environment where all students are valued and challenged. We strive to prepare each and every student for future success and to help them be empowered to keep moving toward academic achievement. At Southfield we persevere, Achieve, use teamwork and show self – determination, each day we embark on our school day, in and out of the classroom.
South Columbus Preparatory Academy at Southfield is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the St. Aloysius Orphanage (Charter School Specialists) which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.
Community Schools (Charter Schools) offer families an alternative to the local public school. Community schools are tuition-free, open to all students in the county, and focused on meeting student needs for success. Community schools are among the top-performing schools in the nation.
